Snap has now launched its second hardware product called Snap Pixy. It is a pocket-sized drone that can follow you around and capture videos for posting on Snapchat. Pixy is priced at $229.99 and will be available in the US and France starting Thursday.
Snap Pixy is really small and light to fit in your pocket. There is no controller to operate it. It takes off and lands on your palm. There is a dial on the top of the drone that lets you access the six pre-programmed flight patterns.
Pixy features two cameras. The front-facing camera will focus on you while the bottom-facing camera is used to take the drone stable. This camera also detects the palm of your hand to know where to land. The front camera can also shoot 2.7K videos and directly send them to Snapchat. Videos on captured horizontally. You can then either post it or vertically crop it before posting it on Snapchat.
Snap claims that you can get up to eight flights on a single battery charge. The battery is removable, so you can carry more batteries with you for more flights.
Snap Pixy is priced at $229.99 and comes with Pixy, bumper and carrying strap, rechargeable battery, and USB-C charging cable. There is also a Pixy Flight Pack that costs $249.99 and comes with Pixy with a dual battery charger including 2 batteries. You can also purchase Pixy Battery for $19.99 and Dual Battery Charger for $49.99 separately.
