Google officially launches the ‘Switch to Android’ app

Switch to Android

Last week, people spotted the ‘Switch to Android’ iOS app that lets users move data from an iPhone to an Android phone. Now the company has officially launched the app. The app lets users move data like contacts, calendars, photos, and videos from an iPhone to a new Android phone. The app is being rolled out gradually and should reach all iOS users over the next couple of weeks.

The app aims to make it easier to switch from an iPhone to an Android phone. All the important data and apps will instantly be available on your new Android phone. So, you don’t need to think about your data while moving from an iPhone to an Android phone.

Before the launch of this app, most users used to take a backup of data in Google Drive and then import it to the Android phone. But the app makes the whole process faster and more streamlined.

The app primarily uses a Wi-Fi connection in the transfer process. It also supports wired transfer from Android to iOS. This process also moves DRM-free music, audio, wallpapers, alarms, call logs, device settings, and free apps.

Google recommends users disable iMessage before starting the data transfer. All your iMessage texts will be moved to standard text messages.

Transfering paid apps from iPhone to Android won’t be easy. Not all iOS paid apps are available for Android. So, Google recommends contacting the app developer to see what they offer for customers moving to a new device.
