During Epic’s State of Unreal 2022, Crystal Dynamics announced the next Tomb Raider game. The company also confirmed that the game is being built on Unreal Engine 5. We still don’t know the title, teaser, or any other detail.

The first Tomb Raider game was released back in 1996 on the original PlayStation. Since then, we saw several sequels, a reboot, and three movies. The last Tomb Raider game, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, was released back in 2018 and was developed by Eidos Montreal.

Epic launched Unreal Engine 5 at the State of Unreal event today. The updated engine comes with a number of improvements for developers, The gaming engine enables more photorealistic visuals in future games.

Crystal Dynamics is not the only studio that is adopting Unreal Engine 5. The Coalition and CD Projekt Red have already confirmed they are using Unreal Engine 5 for their upcoming games.
