Microsoft has brought Xbox Cloud gaming support to Steam Deck via a beta release of the Edge browser. Before you could play games, you need to perform initial setup. Microsoft recommends connecting a mouse and keyboard to Steam Deck.

Microsoft has also published a Reddit post and a support article explaning how to install and setup Xbox Cloud gaming on Steam Deck. The process mainly involves insalling Edge browser on Steam Deck and then adding a shortcut in the Steam interface.

Although it was possible to access Xbox game streaming on Steam Deck, it wasn’t possble to use handheld controls. So, the company has to work with Valve for making this possible.

“We worked closely with Valve and the Xbox Cloud Gaming team to bring support for Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate through Microsoft Edge Beta for the Steam Deck,” says Missy Quarry, a community manager for Microsoft Edge.

Several Xbox Game Studios titles can run natively on Steam Deck, but Xbox Game Pass isn’t available on Steam. So, users will have to stream these games from Microsoft’s service.

Microsoft team also confirms that this is just the beginning of gaming on Edge. They are also open to feedback on Edge and Cloud Gaming to make it even better for users.
