Today Nothing held an event where it made some interesting announcements. Nothing began its business with audio products but now the company is set to launch smartphone. This smartphone will also run Nothing OS based on Android.

Carl Pei aims to make Nothing a company with ecosystem to rival Apple. He also wants Nothing to become “the most compelling alternative to Apple.”

We have no details about phone’s specifications, but we know it will be powered by Snapdragon SoC.

Nothing Phone (1) will run a custom Android skin called Nothing OS. Nothing OS aims to bring an open and seamless ecosystem to connect and integrate other Nothing products and other products from partner brands. The company further notes that Nothing OS will offer three years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates for the device.

There will also be a Nothing OS launcher for select Android smartphones in April. This launcher promises to offer smooth and fast user experience without any bloatware. While talking about the product, Carl Pei also talked about dynamic RAM caching for makine device expereince better.

Carl Pei previously founded OnePlus that became a big name in a short spanof time. So, he knows what consumers want. Now he aims Apple even if his company has just launched one product in the market. Let’s see how his next step turns out to be.
