CD Projekt Red has confirmed that it is working on a Witcher game. This will follow The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which was released all the way back in 2015. The company has partnered with Epic Games for this new title and the game will be using Unreal Engine 5. We also don’t know if the game will be called The Witcher 4 or anything else.

The partnership with Epic Games covers not only licensing but technical development of Unreal Engine 5 and the future versions of Unreal Engine. Despite the partnership with Epic Games, the upcoming Witcher game will not be exclusive to Epic Games.

Even if the new Witcher game will use Unreal Engine 5, CD Projekt Red has no plans to ditch its REDengine. Upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 will use REDengine.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was a good game and is still considered one of the best open-world RPGs ever made. The game won 250 Game of the Year awards and also got two expansions The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Hearts of Stone. This game became so popular that it also got a Netflix series.

No further details such as development time or release date have been confirmed.
