Instagram now lets users send like to an Instagram Story. This like will be private and will also be shown to the person who has uploaded the Story. Previously, users could either send a direct message or an emoji reaction. Both of these responses are shown in the message inbox.

Now you will see a new heart icon located between the “Send Message” text box and airplane icon. Tap on this heart icon to send a Story. If you receive a like on your Story, it will show up in your viewer sheet. People who publicly see your Story cannot see who has liked your Story.

I checked the Instagram app on both Android and iOS. The udpate has yet to reach me on my phone. The company is gradually rolling out the update and it may take some time to reach all Instagram users across the globe.
