Social audio platform Clubhouse has added a text chat feature to its voice rooms. It is similar to what we see in Zoom calls. Users who do not want to speak can write in the room’s text chat channel.

Text chat is an optional feature and it needs to be manually enabled in any Clubhouse room. If you enable it, there will be a button to access and use the chat box at the bottom left corner. In case you do not want to text chat in the audio room, you can keep it off.

Text chat also offers moderation tools. Anyone can report or block a user by long pressing on their username directly from the chat. If you are the host, you can also appoint moderators to delete abusive messages.

After the live audio session ends, the text chat will also be there in the archive along with the audio content.

The company says that text chat is being rolled out to all users on Android and iOS.
