Microsoft launches Mixed Reality Headset ‘HoloLens 2’ in India

Microsoft today announced the launch of its mixed reality headset HoloLens 2 in India. This headset was unveiled back in 2019 at Mobile World Congress. The company will be selling it through commercial authorized resellers Softline and Team Computer. The company has not confirmed the pricing details. Interested consumers should ask authorized selling partners about the pricing.

The product targets enterprises and businesses customers. The company claims that there could be several use cases like going from construction sites and factory floors to operating rooms, hospitals, and classrooms.

HoloLens 2 enables a 3D viewing experience with its see-through holographic lenses backed by 2K 3:2 light engines. It also has four visible light camera sensors and two infrared (IR) camera sensors for head and eye-tracking. There is also a 1-megapixel time-of-flight (ToF) depth sensor to improve AR results. There is also an 8 megapixels RGB camera with support to 1080p video recording. This camera is used to facilitate video conferencing through the headset.

The device also packs a microphone array that has five channels of audio input. The built-in speakers can deliver a spatial sound experience.

It packs a Snapdragon 850 processor, 4GB RAM, and 64Gb of storage. The device also supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth v5.0 connectivity. It also features a USB Type-C port. The headset runs a custom version of Windows called Windows Holographic. The software includes Microsoft Edge, Dynamics 365 Remote Assist, Dynamics 365 Guides, and a 3D Viewer.
