In just two years of commercial rollout of fixed-line broadband services, Reliance Jio has managed to become the top wired broadband provider in the country. It now leads with 4.34 million customers across the country. The company has beat 20 -year-old state-run telecom company BSNL that dominated the business for about 20 years.
Reliance Jio had around 4.34 million customers in November, up from 4.16 million in October. BSNL’s customers declined to 4.2 million in November from 4.72 million in October. Bharti Airtel is the third-largest wired broadband provider with 4.08 million customers in November.
When Reliance Jio began its operation back in September 2019, BSNL already had 8.69 million wired broadband customers. In two years, BSNL lost almost half of its customers.

If we take a look at wireless broadband service providers, Reliance Jio leads with a big margin and has 428.62 million active customers. Airtel and Vodafone are at 2nd and 3rd places with 206.02 million and 122.39 million active customers. BSNL ranks 4th with just 19.41 million customers. With 0.3 million customers, Tikona ranks 5th in the wireless broadband providers list.
