Honor is also now in the foldable phone race. The company has just launched its first foldable smartphone Honor Magic V in China. This phone has the same form factor that we see in Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold devices. The phone starts at 9999 Yuan.
Honor Magic V comes with a large 7.9-inch primary display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 2272 x 1984 Pixels resolution. When the phone is closed, it offers a 6.45-inch screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio, a 2560 x 1080 resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The hinge of the phone has 213 components and folds the screen like a teardrop. When it is folded, it is just 14.3mm thick, and 6.7mm thick when open. The company claims that the hinge is durable enough to be folded 50 times per day for 10 years without fatigue.
The phone packs a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 platform with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. It has a graphene-based intelligent cooling. There is also an independent security chip to store sensitive information.
The phone runs Honor’s Magic UI 6.0 software on top of Android 12. The software includes multi-window support, new shortcuts for split-screen mode, and more.
Magic V features a triple camera with 50 megapixels primary camera, 50 megapixels ultra-wide camera, and a 50 megapixels Spectrum Enhanced camera. There is also a 42 megapixels selfie camera on both the inner and outer screens. So, there are basically two selfie cameras
There is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The phone features 5G, 4G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and USB Type-C connectivity options. The phone packs a 4750 mAh battery with support to 66W fast charging. The phone charges up to 50 percent in 15 minutes.
The base model of Honor Magic V with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at 9999 Yuan. The model with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage costs 10999 Yuan.
