Twitter acquires Quill

Twitter has announced that it is acquiring Quill, a messaging app for collaboration with teams. This acquisition will help Twitter improve Twitter DMs to compete well against other messaging apps.

Quill is basically a productivity messaging platform that aims to offer organized messaging. The app also has been designed in a way to keep notifications to a minimum.

After the acquisition, Quill will be shutting down. So, the company has given users an option to export team message history until 1 pm PST, Saturday, December 11th, 2021. After this deadline, the company will turn off servers and will delete all data.

To export your data, Go to your Settings in Quill. Select the team you want to export and tap Start Export under the Export Team heading. The export file will include all of your data. You can later import this data into Slack. The company has confirmed that any messages in private DMs, groups, or private channels will not be part of your export.

Quill’s team will work on improving Twitter DM. Twitter could add some sort of messaging channels for large communities. It could also add some paid features for Twitter Blue.
