Twitter starts showing Instagram link previews

Twitter has started showing preview cards for Instagram links on the web and official apps. So, you no longer need to tap the Instagram link soon Twitter to see what the Instagram post. Instagram Preview card will show a thumbnail of the image. It lets you decide if you should click to see the full post.

Basically, Instagram has added Twitter card support that is responsible for showing link preview content on Tweets. It is not clear why Instagram suddenly introduced Twitter Card support. The company just tweeted to confirm the change

Instagram removed Twitter cards back in 2012 and the decision was heavily criticized by users. Instagram founder Kevin Systrom said that the decision has been taken to take control of its content. It is not clear what forced the company to change its mind almost after 9 years.
