Motorola could be the first to launch 200MP camera smartphone

Motorola Edge 20 Pro

Back in September this year, Samsung unveiled the first 200 megapixels smartphone camera sensor. It seems this camera sensor can make its way into a smartphone next year. Lenovo-owned smartphone brand Motorola may launch a smartphone with 200 megapixels camera in the first half of 2022.

Not just Motorola, Xiaomi will also use this camera sensor in a smartphone next year. Xiaomi’s 200 megapixels camera phone is expected to arrive in the second half of 2022. Samsung will also bring this camera sensor in its own smartphone but in 2023.

Samsung ISOCELL HP1 is the first 200 megapixels camera sensor with dynamic pixel binning technology and 0.64μm pixels. It also has a 1/1.22-inch sensor size.

This camera sensor uses a 2×2 or 4×4 or full pixel layout depending on environment lighting. If it uses 2×2 pixel-binning, you get 50 Megapixels photos and 12.4 megapixels photos in 4×4 pixel-binning. This sensor can also record 8K videos at 30fps.

The leak about Motorola’s 200-megapixel camera phone came from reliable tipsters such as Ice Universe and Digital Chat Station. So, we are hopeful about the phone. We have no more information about the Motorola smartphone that could use this 200 megapixels sensor. So there is nothing we can share with you.
