The company was legally forced to log the IP address and share it with authorities. ProtonMail founder and CEO Andy Yen explains that it only started logging the specific users’ IP addresses after it was legally forced to do so by Swiss authorities.
Now users who trust ProtonMail for its encryption, privacy, and autonomy are worried. Proton also offers a VPN service of its own. Now users are worried if the company can also log VPN users’ IP addresses.
