Amazon has today launched next-gen Kindle Paperwhite models: Kindle Paperwhite and the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition. The Kindle Paperwhite is priced at Rs 13,999 while the Signature Edition costs Rs 17,999. Both the devices are now available for pre-order.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite comes with a large 6.8-inch display and features a sleek, flush-front design. The display has 300 PPI pixel density and is glare-free. Amazon claims that it has made additional 10 percent brightness at the maximum setting to provide a more comfortable experience. The display also has adjustable warm light and white-on-black mode. Kindle Paperwhite has 8GB onboard storage.

Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition also includes auto-adjusting front light that adjusts the display brightness based on ambient lighting. The signature edition has 32GB of onboard storage.

Both the devices claim to deliver up to 10 weeks of battery backup. This is the longest battery life ever on Kindle. Amazon also claims that these models will offer 20 percent faster page turns and an overall smoother user experience.

Both the devices are made of using 60 percent post-consumer recycled plastics and 70 percent recycled die-cast magnesium. New Kindle Paperwhite also carries an IPX8 rating to offer water resistance.
