India’s ed-tech giant Byju’s has acquired US-based Tynker for around $200 Million. This move is another step in the company’s US expansion plan.

Tynker is a creative coding platform that aims at teaching children aged between 5-18 to learn how to develop coding skills. The startup was founded back in 2012 and boasts a reach of over 60 million kids and 100,000 schools in 150 countries.

The acquisition will enable Tynker to introduce its creative coding platform to even more kids, educators, schools, and coding camps globally, it added.

In the past few months, Byju’s also acquired two other ed-tech companies in the US digital reading platform Epic and educational gaming company Osho. The company has a goal of investing $1 billion in the US ed-tech market over the next three years.

If we take a look at history, Byju’s has acquired around 15 companies since it was founded in 2011. Recently, it also acquired Gradeup, an online exam preparation platform. The company is now valued at $16.5 billion after its last funding back in April. The company is also trying to raise another round off funding at a valuation of $21 billion.
