Amazon just introduced its largest member of the Echo Show family. The new Echo Show device is Echo Show 15 that comes with a 15.6-inch 1080p display. The device can also double as a massive digital picture frame.
The device can be wall-mounted or placed on a stand. It can also be used in both portrait and landscape orientation
Due to the large display of Echo Show 15, Amazon has to redesign the home screen for it. You can configure the screen to see information what you want. Use various Alexa widgets for the customization of the home screen. Widgets are available for several applications such as family calendars, sticky notes, to-do lists, reminders, and shared shopping lists.
The device is powered by Amazon’s AZ2 Neural Edge processor that has onboard machine learning and computer vision.
The Echo Show 15 also comes with a new visual ID feature that can recognize your face and then show the personalized information such as reminders, notes, and calendar appointments. For a child, the visual ID will show the age-appropriate content.
The device features a Sound Detection feature. You can train Alexa to identify a sound and alert you when it listens to the sound. For example, train Alexa to alert you if it listens to a crying baby or a broken glass sound.
Amazon confirmed that visual ID is entirely optional and keeps all the computer vision information on the device. If you are not comfortable, you shouldn’t use it. There is also a built-in camera shutter along with microphone and power toggles.
The Echo Show 15 is priced at $249.99 and will be available later this year.
