Spotify launches its live audio app Spotify Greenroom

Spotify has launched a social media app Spotify Greenroom. This new app is basically similar to clubhouse and lets users host live audio conversations.

You can join Spotify Greenroom using your existing Spotify account. Good thing is that you are not restricted to use Spotify login. Once logged in, it asks you to select interests from a wider range of topics. Then, you can search audio programs to listen to.

The app also features a native recording feature. So, you can also save your shows and later distribute them as podcasts. Greenroom also features a live text chat feature that the host can turn on or off. This feature isn’t available in other similar live audio apps.

Spotify will also record live audio sessions for itself. The company confirms that the recording is for moderation purposes. If a user reports something in a session, this recording will be used to verify the claims and take further actions.

Spotify Greenroom is built on Locker Room, the app Spotify acquired back in March. The company has also confirmed that existing Locker Room users will also get the Greenroom experience after updating the app starting today.

Spotify has also announced the creator fund. This fund will be used to pay creators based on how popular their rooms are and their engagement. The company could also announce exclusive deals with creators in the coming days.

Spotify Greenroom is now available across 135 markets around the. The app can be downloaded from Play Store or App Store. For the time being, it is only available in the English language but other language options will be added as the app grows.
