Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 888 Plus 5G Mobile Platform, an upgrade to the Snapdragon 888. It comes with improved performance and an improved AI Engine over its predecessor.

Snapdragon 888 Plus is a slightly improved version of Snapdragon 888. Kryo 680 CPU Prime core in Snapdragon 888 Plus 5G is clocked at up to 2.995GHz. So, there’s a 5.2% performance upgrade.

Snapdragon 888+ is paired with the same Adreno 660. There is no upgrade in the GPU performance AI Engine in Snapdragon 888 could perform 26 TOPS while 888 Plus is capable of 32 TOPS. So, Snapdragon 888 Plus offers 20% better AI processing.

The new chip offers the same camera and connectivity features.

Asus, Motorola, Xiaomi, Honor, and Vivo have already confirmed to launch devices powered by Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset. We should expect the first Snapdragon 888+ device by the third quarter of 2021.
