Not many people know that Jeff Bezos also owns Blue Origin, a private aerospace company. Today, Jeff Bezos has confirmed that he and his brother is going to Space on Blue Origin’s spacecraft New Shepard on July 20.

This will be the company’s first suborbital sightseeing trip. The trip will last a total of 10 minutes. Both the passengers will also spend four minutes above the Karman line. The Karman line is the boundary between Earth’s atmosphere and space. Basically, Jeff Bezos and his brother will touch the space.

The New Shepard spacecraft has been designed to autonomously fly six passengers more than 100 KM above Earth into suborbital space. Bezos founded Blue Origin with an aim to offer commercial and space tourism. Finally, the company is ready to offer the first crewed flight. Even if this trip will just cross the Kármán Line, this bold step will mark the start of space tourism.

The company has even testing New Shepard and its redundant safety systems since 2012. In these 8 years, the company has had 15 successful consecutive missions.

Jeff Bezos is stepping down as Amazon CEO on July 5. He announced this news back in February 2021 and he took this decision just to focus on Blue Origin. He knew what Blue Origin is going to do in 2021. So he decided to focus more on this company.
