Apple introduces watchOS 8 with new health-related features

Apple has also announced watchOS 8, the next version of Apple Watch software. The watchOS 8 will come with several new health-related features.

The watchOS 8 will be available for Apple Watch Series 3 and all newer models. The developer beta is available starting today and a public beta will come in July. The public release is expected later this fall.

WatchOS 8 brings a new Mindfulness app. Sleep app is getting update and can now track Respiratory Rate.

Apple is updating the Wallet app in iOS 15. All the new features are also coming to watchOS 8, Wallet app can now securely store your digital ID and digital keys. Some of the features, such as the ability to unlock the car, require Ultra Wideband tech which is limited to Apple Watch 6. You can check your digital ID from Apple Watch and also unlock your car using your Apple Watch.

The Workout app is getting two new workout activities – Tai Chi and Pilates. These actives are relaxed and mindful exercises you can do along with regular Yoga. Fitness Plus is adding more workouts by expert Jeanette Jenkins. It also now include Picture in Picture support and more filtering options

Messages are now getting better controls. You can now twist the crown to move the cursor. The Messages app now lets you search and reply with GIFs. Contacts app lets you browse, edit, and share contacts from your Apple Watch.

The new Focus feature of iOS will also come to watchOS 8. The Focus you set to your iPhone will carry over to Apple Watch.
