Wearing earbuds regularly can increase the chance of ear-infections

The audio segment in the country has witnessed some big changes recently. From using big wired headphones to now using true wireless earphones, the transformation was big and quite fast. Now, most people prefer owning a pair of truly wireless earbuds over a regular wireless earphone or a headphone. Earbuds are easier to use, easier to carry and offer long battery life due to the charging case they come with. You can use earbuds for listening to music, taking calls, or watching your favorite web series. Now when earbuds are also available in the affordable segments, people are selecting them over wired headphones.

Even if using earbuds is convenient, they possess risks to our health. Most people aren’t much careful while using earbuds or earphones. We put earbuds at someplace and then use them the next day without cleaning them. Sharing earphones is quite normal these days and we share earbuds or earphones with friends and family. Both of these actions can lead to significant ear-health issues and ear infections after prolonged use of earbuds.

Several researchers and experts suggest that sharing earbuds is not only unhygienic but also risky. Whenever one uses another person’s earbuds, they also let that person’s bacteria into their ears. This action can lead to ear infections and other ailments. There have been several studies and reports confirming the growth of bacteria with earphone use. In one of the similar studies, researchers at Manipal University in India found harmful bacteria in 92% of ear swabs taken from people who regularly shared their earphones with friends. Even if you don’t share earphones or earbuds much, there’s a high chance of bacterial growth after frequent and constant use of earphones.

No earbuds today are designed considering the health risks earbuds bring. Most manufacturers are also ignoring this big issue. Earbuds are compact, so most people put them into the case after using them but sometimes they leave them on the table. This also risks the development of bacteria. If earbuds are lying around and you use them without proper sanitation, you may not only invite dirt into your ears but also bacteria. Inadequate cleanliness is the major cause of the presence of bacteria in the ear gel.

LG understood this issue. So, it launched TONE FREE Wireless earbuds with innovative UV Nano Technology. This technology is capable of sanitizing earbuds and eliminating bacteria from them. LG TONE FREE boasts to be India’s 1st 99.9% Bacteria-Free Earbuds. TONE FREE comes with a UV Nano charging case that keeps the earbuds bacteria-free. Hence it offers enhanced hygiene and protection after every charge. These earbuds also have medical-grade ear gels made from non-toxic and hypoallergenic silicone. I also posted LG TONE FREE FN7 Review and found it an impressive pair of buds. LG Tone Free FN6 is cheaper but features same the UV Nano Technology for sanitizing earbuds.

Aside from bacteria infection, earbuds can also increase wax build-up inside the ear. Naturally, ears are designed to clean themselves but wearing earbuds can trap the ear wax inside that is supposed to be taken out. Excessive wax build-up can also affect hearing. In order to prevent the excessive wax issue, you should clean your ears regularly using cotton swabs. If you see dirt or ear wax on earbuds, remove it. You can use a toothpick or buy a tiny brush to clean earbuds regularly.

Now you know why it is important to take care while using earbuds. Don’t wear earbuds for long and ensure proper sanitization. Also, try not to share your earbuds.
