Sharp has announced its latest flagship smartphone Sharp Aquos R6 in Japan. The phone is notable because it is the world’s first phone with a 1-inch image CMOS sensor. The camera sensor is developed jointly with Leica all the way from R&D through lens design.

Sharp Aquos R6 comes with a 6.6-inch WUXGA+ Pro IGZO OLED display with up to 240Hz refresh rate. It also supports HDR and Dolby Vision. The display boasts up to 2000 nits brightness.

The phone packs octa-core Snapdragon 888 with Adreno 660 GPU. It also has 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage. Storage is expandable up to 1TB.

Sharp Aquos R6 has a 20.2-megapixels rear camera with Leica Sumicron 7P lens, f/1.9 aperture, and 19 mm focal length. There is also a ToF camera next to the main camera. The phone also has a 12 megapixels selfie camera.

The phone has Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max in-display fingerprint sensor. It is also Water and dustproof. Connectivity options include 5G SA/NSA,Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ax, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS + GLONASS, NFC, and USB Type-C. It packs 5,000mAh battery with fast charging support.

The pricing of the phone will be announced closer to the launch. It will be rolled out in mid-June in Japan through local operators NTT Docomo and Softbank.
