Qualcomm has just launched its new Snapdragon 778G processor. This new SoC is said to a more powerful variant of Snapdragon 780G SoC. This processor is built on a 6nm fabrication process.
Snapdragon 778G 5G packs Cortex-A78 custom-made Kryo 670 CPU with maximum clock speeds of 2.4GHz. Qualcomm claims that Kryo 670 CPU enables 40% higher performance and incredible power efficiency.
It supports up to Full HD+ resolution display with 144Hz refresh rate. There’s also support for Up to 10-bit color depth, HDR10 and HDR10+. The SoC also supports up to 4K @ 60 Hz external display.
Snapdragon 778G 5G is paired with Adreno 642L graphics and supports Vulkan 1.1, OpenGL 3S 3.1, OpenCL 2.0 FP, HDR10+, and HDR10. It also packs a 6th generation AI engine on Hexagon 770 processor and boasts to deliver 12 TOPS of performance.
The SoC also uses a triple 14-bit Spectra 570 ISP that supports up to 192-megapixel single camera system or up to 36-megapixel + 22-megapixel dual-camera system or up to 22-megapixel triple camera system. It also supports 10-bit HDR HEIF / HEIC photo capture, AI-based autofocus, multi-frame noise reduction, 720p/240fps slow-motion video shooting, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG.
There’s a Snapdragon X53 5G modem-RF system that promises peak download speeds of 3.3Gbps. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, Beidou, Galileo, GLONASS, NavIC, and dual-frequency GPS.
Snapdragon 778G 5G also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 fast charging.
