Nvidia is expanding its GeForce RTX 30 series and is adding new GeForce RTX 3050 and GeForce RTX 3050 Ti discrete GPUs. They will be featured in affordable gaming laptops.

RTX 3050 and 3050 Ti bring ray tracing and AI features from the rest of its RTX line but are not as powerful as NVIDIA’s beefier GPUs. The RTX 3050 and 3050 Ti feature 2,048 and 2,560 CUDA cores, respectively. Not as powerful as other high-end RTX 30 series GPUs but good enough for 1080p performance.

Both the GPUs come with 4GB of GDDR6 RAM and a 128-bit memory interface. OEMs are free to tweak the total graphics power (TGP) of each GPU in terms of wattage and clock speed. The TGP range can be anywhere between 35W and 80W.

Nvidia also claimed that RTX 3050 Ti can reach over 80 FPS in 1080p with medium graphics settings in Call of Duty: Warzone. If you compare RTX 3050 with GTX 1650 Ti, it reaches around 55FPS. That means RTX 3050 Ti is roughly 60% faster.

Laptops with RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti will be launched in the coming months. Laptops with these GPUs will start at $799. We already know that Samsung’s new Galaxy Book Odyssey will pack these graphics chips. These laptops will start at $1,399.
