Apple’s upcoming iPhone 13 is still far away from the launch but we have already got enough rumors about the phone. Now a report claims that the upcoming iPhone 13 will feature a smaller notch.

Digitimes has reported that Apple has reduced the size of VCSEL chip powering Face ID by as much as 50 percent. So, upcoming iPhone models could have a notch size nearly half as compared to the iPhone 12.

The notch in iPhone contains several things including an Infrared camera, Flood illuminator, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Speaker, Microphone, Front camera, and dot projector. This is the reason Apple’s iPhone models feature a wide notch.

Apple is also reportedly moving the speaker from the notch to the edge of the bezel. It will save some more space allowing the notch to be smaller.

This is not the first report claiming the smaller notch in upcoming iPhone models. Japanese site MacOtakara claimed the same earlier this year and this report was backed by Ming-Chi Kuo in March. We have also seen photos of front glass panels with a smaller notch. Putting all these things together, we can now comfortably say that the upcoming iPhone models will have a smaller notch.

Some reports also claim that Apple will discontinue iPhone mini as the phone couldn’t meet the demand expectations. Apple has also cut down the production of iPhone mini after it couldn’t get enough orders and has to increase the production of Pro models due to high demand.

The iPhone 13 models will be launched later this year in September. We still have 4 months in the launch. So, we can expect more leaks and rumors talking about iPhone 13.
