Asus just announced its new Zenfone 8 series of smartphones that include Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 Flip. Both the phones pack powerful Snapdragon 888 but differ in other specs.
ASUS ZenFone 8 Flip is a high-end phone. It comes with a 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 200Hz touch sampling rate. It also has Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. The display is HDR 10+ rated.
It packs Octa-Core Snapdragon 888 5nm Soc with Adreno 660 GPU. The phone comes with an 8GB LPDDR5 6400MHz RAM and is offered with 128GB and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage options. Storage is also expandable up to 2TB.
This phone also follows the rotating camera setup that we saw in previous Zenfone flagship models. So, the rear camera setup can act as the selfie camera. The camera setup includes 64 megapixels primary camera, 12 megapixels ultra-wide camera and 8 megapixels telephoto camera for 3x optical zoom. This setup can record 8K videos.
For good audio experience, Asus has included a dual stereo speakers with Dirac HD Sound and 5-magnet speaker with dual NXP TFA9874 smart amplifiers for louder, deeper and less distorted sound effect. There is also a triple microphones with OZO Audio Zoom.
The fingerprint sensor is under the display. It measures 165.04×77.28×9.6mm an weighs 230g.
Connectivity options include 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ax 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, Galileo(E1+E5a), QZSS(L1+L5), NavIC(L5), USB Type-C, and NFC. It packs 5000mAh battery with 30W fast charging.
ZenFone 8 features a 5.9-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The display has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Protection and is also HDR10+ rated.
It packs an Octa Core Snapdragon 888 5nm SoC with 660 GPU. It comes in several RAM Storage options: 6+64 GB, 8+128GB, 8+256GB and 16+256GB. The phone runs on ZenUI 8 based on Android 11 out of the box.
The phone has a dual-camera setup that includes 64 megapixels primary camera and 12 megapixels ultra-wide camera. This setup can also record 8K videos. For selfies, it has a 12 megapixels selfie camera with dual PD autofocus.
Zenfone 8 comes with stereo speakers, Dual Cirrus Logic CS35L45 amplifier, Dirac HD sound, and Hi-Res Audio. It also has Triple microphones with OZO Audio Zoom & ASUS Noise Reduction Technology. There is an under-display fingerprint sensor.
ZenFone 8 is IP68 rated to offer Water and dust resistant. It measures 148×68.5x9mm and weighs 169g.

ASUS Zenfone 8 starts at 599 Euros / $599 and will be rolled out in Europe in the coming weeks and in the U.S. before July. ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip starts at 799 Euros and will be available in Europe soon.
