Amazon already owns a popular video streaming service Prime Video that requires prime membership to access the content. Now the company has announced the launch of another video streaming service miniTV for Indian consumers. This new video streaming service will be available within the Amazon shopping app. It is free and ad-supported.

With miniTV, now Amazon owns two different video streaming platforms in India. miniTV is completely free and can be accessed within the Amazon app. For Prime Video, one needs Prime membership and the Prime video app.

“miniTV is completely free and it does not require a separate app. Prime Video requires a Prime subscription and offers a collection of award-winning Amazon Originals, latest movies and TV shows, in English and 9 Indian languages. Viewers can access Prime Video on the app or stream it on their smart TVs,” the company said.

I checked the miniTV content and found that most of the content has been curated from YouTube. The MiniTV section features content from Filtercopy, TVF, and popular YouTubers including Ashish Chanchlani, Amit Bhadana, Harsh Beniwal, and more. The company has tried to offer content in different categories such as Tech, fashion, beauty, and cooking.

For now, miniTV is available for Android users only. It will also be available in the iOS app and on the mobile web in the coming months.
