Facebook app gets a mini player for Spotify streaming

Facebook Spotify Player

Last week, Facebook announced its partnership with Spotify to bring Spotify content within the Facebook app. Now the companies are rolling out this integration by adding a mini-player within the Facebook app. This minelayer will stream content from Spotify through the Facebook app on iOS or Android. It will be available to both free and Premium Spotify users.

It is basically an extension of sharing Spotify content on Facebook. If you find Spotify content shared as a Facebook post, tap the “Play” button and it will start playing the content at the bottom side of the app in a miniplayer with playback options. It will keep playing even if you keep scrolling your News Feed.

Once the track ends, Spotify will continue to play music on shuffle as it does in the Spotify app. Free users will also get ads directly from Spotify. Spotify gas confirmed that Facebook will get access to limited data about users to understand the miniplayer’s performance. Users will have to consent to the data sharing with Facebook.

This will be available in 27 markets starting with the US. Other markets will get it in the coming months.
