IRCTC has now launched a website for booking bus tickets online. The website went live January 29 but formal announcement was made later.

Open the IRCTC site for bus ticket booking. You can enter details like departure and arrival to look for buses and then start the booking process. It doesn’t need any ID proof for booking but you need to take a photo id proof while boarding. As per the website, tickets can be booked for a maximum of six passengers in one transaction.

“IRCTC under the leadership of Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution is gradually moving towards firmly positioning itself as the first government ‘One Stop Shop Travel Portal’ of the country,” a statement issued by IRCTC read.

IRCTC has collaborated with more than 50,000 state road transport and private bus operators in 22 states and 3 union territories for providing online bus ticket bookings.

The website also lets customers check for photos of buses, route, amenities, reviews, and ratings while booking a ticket. One will also be able top choose pick-up and drop points and as per their comfort.

IRCTC official has also confirmed that bus ticket booking will also be integrated to IRCTC app in the coming months.
