Amazon to start manufacturing Fire TV Stick in India from later this year

Amazon India today announced its plans to start manufacturing Amazon Devices in India under Indian Government’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives.

The company will start manufacturing with contract manufacturer Cloud Network Technology, a subsidiary of Foxconn in Chennai. Production will start later this year. Amazon plans to manufacture hundreds of thousands of Fire TV Stick devices every year and then scale the facility to meet the domestic demand.

Amit Agarwal, SVP and Country Head, Amazon India briefed the details of the initiative to Shri. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister for Communications, Electronics & Information Technology and Law & Justice.

“This further reiterates our commitment to ‘Make in India’, contributing directly to the local economy, creating jobs & boosting Indian innovation,” said Amit Agarwal, SVP and Country Head, Amazon India.

Amazon also pledged to invest $1 billion to digitize 10 million small and medium businesses and help Indian business sell globally. This initiative aims to create an additional 1 million jobs by 2025.
