Ubuntu on iPhone 7

A Reddit user newhacker1746 posted a thread on Reddit where he claimed to run Ubuntu on iPhone 7. Initially, he managed to just run Ubuntu CLI but he later managed to run Ubuntu GUI properly.

He used Checkra1n for the bootrom exploit and unsigned code execution. Here’s the video of Ubuntu 20.04 runnin on iPhone 7

The guy didn’t replace the contents of the internal NAND but he did Ubuntu network boot using a custom Linux kernel from Project Sandcastle. He also shared a guide for people who also want to do the same.

This wasn’t surprising for people who are already nerd. There’s already a project postmarketOS that brought Linux to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
