Elon Musk becomes the world’s richest person surpassing Jeff Bezos

Elon Musk

It seems the growth of Elon Musk won’t stop anytime soon. Now Elon Musk has surpassed Amazon’s chief Jeff Bezos to become the richest person in the world on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. A 4.8% rally in Tesla share prices has increased the wealth of Musk to $188.5 billion.

Elon Musk added over $150 billion to his wealth in 2020. He was at 35th place in the list of the world’s richest person last year in January. Tesla contributed the most to his wealth whose share prices surged 743% last year. Tesla produced close to half-a-million cars last year.

Musk co-founded and sold Paypal. Now he is heading Tesla, SpaceX, Boring Company, and Neuralink.

It is worth noting that Bezos has to give a big amount (a quarter of his Amazon stake) to his ex-wife after the divorce. He also donated a big amount last year.

Musk owns a 20% stake in Tesla. The way Tesla share prices are going up, Elon Musk will keep adding billions to his wealth. Tesla is also planning to launch electric cars in India this year. If the company gets a good response in India, Tesla’s share prices will further go up.

The difference between Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk isn’t big. So, we can expect Jeff Bezos to regain his top position as the world’s richest person soon.
