Asus launches ultraportable 2-in-1 gaming laptop with RTX 3080 eGPU

Asus has launched its new ultraportable gaming laptop ‘ROG Flow X13’ at CES 2021. This is the first 2-in-1 convertible gaming notebook bringing gaming to a portable machine.

ROG Flow X13 has a 360-degree hinge so the laptop can be flipped as per the need. The laptop has a 13-inch touchscreen and is compatible with the ASUS Pen stylus. It also gets a layer of Gorilla Glass for protection. The display has a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 120 Hz refresh rate. It will be available in either 4K 60Hz or full-HD 120Hz panels.

The laptop is powered by AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS processor and GeForce GTX 1650 GPU. It comes with up to 32GB of LPDDR4X-4266 RAM and up to 1TB of PCIe SSD storage. There will also be a Flow X13 Supernova Edition with Ryzen 9 5980HS CPU.

ROG Flow X13 It is 15.8mm thick and weighs 2.9 pounds. Asus claims 10 hours of battery life with a 62Wh battery. The laptop comes with a 100W type-C charger with support for fast charging.

Asus is also offering ROG XG that is a mobile external GPU designed around the new GeForce RTX 3080 laptop GPU. It can run at up to 150W thanks and boasts to be the smallest eGPU ever.

This eGPU links to a laptop with a custom PCIe 3.0 x8 interface that delivers more speed than Thunderbolt 4. This eGPU also doubles as a hub. There are four USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a gigabit ethernet port, a full-sized SD card slot, DisplayPort 1.4, and HDMI 2.0a. Asus has also made a compact 280W power adapter to power both Flow X13 and the XG Mobile.

The ASUS ROG Flow X13 and XG Mobile bundle are priced at $2,999.99 and are available to preorder now.
