Google is testing a new search feature that adds a dedicated carousel of short videos from Instagram and TikTok in the Google app for mobile devices. This move will help the company to attract the users who are interested in social video entertainment. Google first began testing this within Google Discover. Now it is expanding slowly.

A Twitter user @SaadAliKhan1994 first spotted and tweeted about this feature. Other users also posted screenshots in a reply to that tweet.

Short video apps are now really popular and people spend most of their time in watching short videos on different apps including TikTok, Instagram and more. Google will also use this feature to push Google’s own video platform such as Tangi and YouTube that has started featuring short vertical videos.

Short Videos are appearing after the Google Knowledge Base box alongside Top Stories, Twitter results, Top Results, Images, Videos and other content. I tried to replicate the same in my phone but couldn’t get it.

Google indexes video content and shows it in the search results for both desktop and mobile. A short video carousel will be different because it will only feature short and vertical video content.

As the feature is currently being tested, it is available for a limited number of users in selected regions. India is one of the major countries where people watch short videos a lot. So, this feature will surely be available in India soon.
