Back in September, Facebook announced Vanish mode. Now the company is releasing it to Instagram and Messenger. Vanish Mode lets users send disappearing messages. All the messages you send in Vanish Mode won’t appear in the chat history.

You can enable Vanish mode by swiping up on the existing chat thread. All the messages sent in Vanish mode won’t appear in the chat history. To get back to regular chat mode, swipe up again.

Vanish mode works only in personal chats, not in group chats. You will also be notified if someone takes a screenshot of the conversation in Vansh mode.

Vanish mode is now available on Messenger in the US and a few select countries. It will soon be available on Instagram. The company also notes that it is being slowly rolling out.

It is worth noting that Instagram lets users unsend messages. It also allows users to send photos and videos that disappear once viewed. Vanish mode brings the same for text messages.

Disappearing messages were once the key feature that attracted teens towards Snapchat and made it popular. Later this feature was adopted by Telegram. WhatsApp has also confirmed to bring it soon. Now Facebook is introducing it to Messenger and Instagram.
