Apple has also refreshed its smallest desktop. The company has launched the new M1-powered Mac mini. It starts at $699.

It packs new Apple M1 chip that enables up to 3x faster CPU performance and up to 6x better graphics performance than the previous Mac Mini. It also brings Neural engine to the Mac mini for the first time.

Apple also told about real-world performance. It claims that compilation of code in Xcode is up to 3x faster and Play Shadow of the Tomb Raider offers up to 4x higher frame rates. Rendering a complex timeline in Final Cut Pro is also up to 6x faster.

The new Mac mini has the same design as Apple’s 2018 model. There are two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, ethernet, and a headphone jack.

Notably, it has two less Thunderbolt ports than the 2018 Intel-based model. This new machine can support up to two external displays, as well as a 6K display.

The new Mac mini is available to order today. Shipping starts next week.
