Qualcomm to bring 5G support to Snapdragon 4-series chipsets by next year

Qualcomm has just confirmed that 5G capable budget phones will be coming by next year. The company will launch 5G capable Snapdragon 4-series chipsets in early 2021.

Currently, 5G is available in the Snapdragon 8 series, 7 series, and 6 series of processors. Snapdragon 865 Plus, Snapdragon 865, Snapdragon 855, Snapdragon 768G, Snapdragon 765 and 765G, and Snapdragon 690. Snapdragon 4-series powered entry-level smartphones.

“Qualcomm continues to pave the way for 5G commercialization at scale, and the expansion of 5G into our Snapdragon 4-series is expected to address regions that currently have approximately 3.5 billion smartphone users combined,” said Qualcomm President Cristiano Amon in a statement.

Qualcomm has partnered with Motorola, Oppo, and Xiaomi to make 5G more accessible. These smartphone brands helped a lot in pushing 4G to the masses.

5G capable budget phones will be available in early 2021. Now let’s hope we get 5G network as well.
