After several leaks, finally, Nvidia has officially unveiled its next generation of RTX GPUs based on the new Ampere architecture. Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070, GeForce RTX 3080, and GeForce RTX 3090 are second-gen RTX ray-tracing GPUs promising faster AI processing.
Nvidia claims that the new GPUs can offer nearly twice the performance and power efficiency of the GeForce RTX 20 series. These GPUS are also the first to support hardware AV1 decode to help conserve bandwidth for streamers. There’s also HDMI 2.1 which supports 8K displays.
GeForce RTX 3070 is for 1440p as well as 4K gaming. It claims to be 60 percent faster than the GeForce RTX 2070 and even faster than the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. It gets 8GB of GDDR6 memory.
The GeForce RTX 3080 comes with 10GB of 19Gbps GDDR6X RAM. It is capable of offering 60fps consistently at 4K and is twice as fast as the GeForce RTX 2080.
GeForce RTX 3090 is the flagship GPU featuring a triple-slot cooler and a new dual-axial airflow design. It will have a 24GB of GDDR6X RAM. This GPU is up to 50 percent faster than the current Titan RTX. Gamers can enjoy 8K game visuals at 60fps. This GPU is also optimised for AI developers and massive-scale content creators.
NVIDIA also confirmed the details of a new 12-pin PCIe power connector and it will be used for GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards. This new connector is smaller than using two traditional eight-pin connectors. Cards will also come with an adapter that’s compatible with eight-pin cables.
