The gaming community is really having bad times. After the ban of PUBG, now Jio is reportedly blocking Twitch streams. Multiple users reported that they are seeing Error Code #2000 while trying to access Twitch on Jio mobile network or on Jio Fiber.

There’s no official confirmation from Jio, so we can only guess the reason. We tried to contact Jio regarding the matter and still waiting to get their reply.

One of the most probable reason could be the live streaming of IPL 2020 matches. A few users are using Twitch to live Stream Hotstar broadcasts on Twitch. Some of these Twitch streams are also getting massive views. To avoid users from watching these pirated streams, Jio has decided to block access to the whole app.

Twitch is a live streaming platform used by gamers to stream their gameplay. One can stream their computer stream on Twitch using the streaming software.

When I heard about the issue earlier today, I opened Twitch but I could watch gaming streams. Maybe the issue occurs only during the match just to avoid pirated cricket streams. This could also be a technical glitch, not an intentional step.

The surprising thing is that we haven’t heard about any government order regarding this. TRAI is the authority that regulates the internet. As per guidelines, telecom operators cannot restrict access to any website until there’s clear order from the Indian government. So blocking Twitch in such a manner isn’t acceptable.
