Asus has just launched Asus ExpertBook B9450 in the Indian market. This laptop marks the entry of Asus in the commercial laptop segment. Asus already offers impressive Zenbook series, and now the new ExpertBook series, Asus ExpertBook B9450 aims professionals who want an ultraportable laptop without compromise in performance and battery.

ExpertBook B9450 is a really compact laptop with just 995 grams of weight. That makes it the lightest 14-inch commercial laptop It also offers excellent built quality. The laptop is made of magnesium-lithium alloy and is military-grade MIL-STD-810G certified. It has successfully passed tests for drops, shocks, vibrations, dust, heat, cold, high altitude, and humidity.

On the left side, it has two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports, 1 x HDMI port, and a micro HDMI port. Asus also offers a micro HDMI-to-Ethernet adapter within the box. So, you can also connect the laptop to LAN directly if you want. On the right side, it has a USB-A 3.1, a combo audio jack, and status LEDs.

The laptop features an ErgoLift hinge for offering a more comfortable typing experience while keeping space at the bottom side for proper airflow.

It features a 14-inch full HD display that is bright and colorful. The display has a 178-degree viewing angle and 300 nits of brightness. It also has an anti-glare coating. So you can conformably use the laptop at outdoors. The display is really good for watching videos and movies.

The display can be tilted back to a full 180-degree for a better view. Even if the laptop is really compact and light in weight, you can open the lid using a single hand.

The Expertbook B9450 packs Intel Core i7-10510U and 16GB of RAM. The Core i7-10510U comes with 4 cores as compared to the six-core Core i7-10710U found in competitive laptops. But this one is also powerful enough to handle most tasks. The laptop aims tasks such as word processing, spreadsheets, video conferencing, and web browsing. It can handle all these comfortably. It uses Intel UHD graphics that is pretty basic. So, don’t expect high graphics performance. You can still add an eGPU if you want to play games on the laptop. It also has 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD offering high-speed read or write. I will talk about the performance in detail in the full review article.

It comes with a fingerprint sensor that lets you quickly unlock the laptop. There’s also an IR camera for face recognition. So you can also use face unlock for secured login. The laptop supports the TPM 2.0 security solution to for offering a higher level of data protection.

The laptop runs Windows 10 out of the box. Asus has also preloaded MyAsus app. It offers 25GB if dropbox space free for a year. MyAsus app shows Warranty info and links to support docs. You can use this app to change display modes, adjust FAN mode, charging mode and more.

Asus has included a 720p webcam on the laptop that is OK. It is good enough for video calls. You can disable the laptop using F10 hotkey. There’s also a physical sliding shutter to block the camera. There’s also a Quad-microphone setup for capturing good audio to give you a better video calling experience on the laptop. Asus also boasts Noise-canceling technology to reduce unwanted background noise.

The laptop has dual speakers by Harman/Kardon located on the bottom. They sound pretty good but not much loud.

It has a backlit keyboard with three backlit settings. The ErgoLift design makes a better and comfortable angle for typing. It has a large touchpad that also has a number pad and calculator. Long press the icon at the top-right corner to activate or deactivate the numbered.

The laptop packs a large 66Whr battery and promises 24 hours of battery backup on a single charge. I will check if this claim is true, but battery life looks impressive in the first impression.
