Apple has started assembling iPhone SE (2020) in India. The local manufacturing of the iPhone SE (2020) has already begun at the Wistron facility in Karnataka. It will help Apple avoid 20 percent import duty on the phone.

When the locally manufactured iPhone SE (2020) units will be available in India, we can expect some discount on iPhone SE (2020) price.

The iPhone SE (2020) was launched in India in April at a starting price of Rs. 42,500. It comes in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage options. The phone is notable because it packs A13 SoC and promises 5 years of the software update.

iPhone SE (2020) will be the sixth Apple phone that has been locally manufactured in India. Apple is already manufacturing iPhone SE, iPhone 6S, iPhone 7, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11. It will also start production of the iPhone 12 in the middle of 2021.

Earlier this month, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad revealed that Apple’s manufacturers Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron had applied for a Rs. 49,242 crores scheme under the government’s production-linked incentive plan. It confirms Apple is committed to make India its manufacturing hub.
