Minecraft, the popular game developed by Mojang Studios, has sold over 200 million copies since its release. The game was released on 17 May 2009 and took exactly 11 years to achieve this milestone.

In the last few months, the game saw a 25 percent surge in players and a 40% surge in multiplayer sessions. Now the company has over 126M monthly active players enjoying the game.

“In these extraordinary times, we’re reminded more than ever before of the important role games like Minecraft can play in providing an escape from the day-to-day and fostering social connections between friends and families,” Helen Chiang, head of Minecraft studio Mojang, wrote in a blog post.

Mojang was acquired by Microsoft back in 2014. Yesterday, Mojang also rebranded itself as Mojang Studios with plans to expand it and launch few more gaming projects.

Minecraft is available everywhere you play including Xbox One, Windows 10, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS. You can play with anyone and play anywhere.
