Earlier this year, Reliance Retail announced JioMart and started a pilot program in some parts of Navi Mumbai, Thane, and Kalyan. JioMart taking online orders of food and groceries online. Now JioMart has expanded its operation in 200 towns across the country.
The service is only available on the web, but it will soon be available in mobile versions and apps.
JioMart is selling groceries, home care, personal care, and baby care products. The product catalog on JioMart’s website will also be expanded in the coming months. Users can play using JioMoney wallet or credit cards, net banking, and cash on delivery. The company is also giving a minimum a 5 percent discount on the select products as promotional offers.
JioMart offers express delivery from neighborhood stores. Basically it is an aggregator to local grocers with an aim to connect consumers with neighborhood stores.
JioMart will compete against Alibaba-backed BigBasket and SoftBank-funded Grofers, Amazon Pantry, and Flipkart Supermart, etc.
