Huawei announces P40 Pro+, P40 Pro and P40 Smartphones

Huawei has finally announced its new flagship P40 Series of smartphones that includes Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Pro and Huawei P40 Pro+. These phones come with improved specs and powerful camera.

Huawei P40 features a 6.1-inch FHD+ Flex OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate. The P40 Pro and Pro+ come with the same 6.58-inch FHD+ Flex OLED Quad-curve Overflow Display having a 90Hz refresh rate. It also supports DCI-P3 HDR color gamut.

Huawei has used the open-source version of Android without all of the core features that are tied to Google services. These phones have Huawei’s own store of apps with several Huawei-branded apps.

Huawei P40

All these models pack Huawei’s own Kirin 990 chipset with ARM Mali-G76MP16 GPU and Dual Big Core + Tiny Core NPUs. P40 Pro+ will get 512GB of storage while P40 Pro will get 256GB and P40 will be available in 128GB storage option. All the three phones pack 8GB RAM.

Huawei P40 features a triple camera setup with 50 megapixels RYYB Ultra Vision camera, 16 megapixels ultra-wide camera and 8 megapixels telephoto camera for 3x optical zoom. There’s also a 32 megapixels selfie camera along with an IR Depth camera for bokeh and Face unlock.

Huawei P40 Pro has slightly different camera setup. It has 50 megapixels primary RYYB Ultra Vision camera, 40 megapixels ultra-wide cine camera, 12 megapixels RYYB periscope camera for 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom and 50x digital zoom and ToF camera for depth sensing. This setup can record 7680fps Ultra Slow-Motion videos and 4k video at 60fps.

Huawei P40 Pro+ has even better zoom capabilities. It has 5 different camera sensors on the back. There’s a 50 megapixels primary RYYB Ultra Vision camera along with 40 megapixels ultra-wide cine camera, 8 megapixels periscope camera for 10x optical zoom, 8 megapixels telephoto camera for 3x optical zoom and ToF camera for depth sensing. This setup claims to offer up to 20x Hybrid Zoom, and 100x Max Zoom. P40 Pro+ also offers 7680fps Ultra Slow-Motion video capture and 4K video capture.

Both P40 Pro and P40 Pro+ come with 32 megapixels selfie Cora along with an IR Depth camera.

HUAWEI P40 Pro

P40 Pro and P40 Pro+ are IP68 rated for water and dust resistance. The base model P40 is IP53 rated. HUAWEI P40 Pro+ comes in Ceramic Black and Ceramic White colors, but HUAWEI P40 and HUAWEI P40 Pro come in Black, Deep Sea Blue, Ice White, Silver Frost, and Blush Gold colors. All these phones have an under-display fingerprint sensor.

Huawei P40 packs 3,800mAh battery and supports 22.5W fast charging. Both Huawei P40 Pro and Huawei P40 Pro+ pack 4,200 mAh battery with support tp 40W wired charging. P40 Pro+ comes with 40W super-fast wireless charging and P40 Pro offers 27W wireless charging.

Huawei P40 starts at Euro 799, while the P40 Pro starts at Euro 999. Huawei P40 Pro+ will be available starting at Euro 1399. P40 and P40 Pro will be up for sale starring April 7. The P40 Pro+ will be available sometimes in June this year.
