Realme X50 Pro 5G First Impressions

Realme X50 Pro 5G

Today, Realme launched Realme X50 Pro 5G in the Indian market. The phone comes with aggressive pricing and it went on sale starting today. This is the most expensive smartphone from Realme and certainly an impressive phone as well. It is the first phone in India with Snapdragon 865, 5G connectivity and 65W fast charging.

I was at the launch event where I got a chance to spend some time with the phone.

The phone comes in two colors Moss Green and Rust Red. I got the Moss Green to try and it felt really beautiful but Rust Red was better in my opinion. The phone has a solid build and feels premium. It has Gorilla Glass 5 on both rear and front. Glass back looks really good and feels black from certain angles. It wasn’t attracting many fingerprints, but it was the slippery The top left side of the back panel has a Quad-camera setup where all sensors are aligned vertically.

The phone has volume rockers on the left side of the device and the right edge has a power button. The base side has USB Type-c port, SIM card slot, and Speaker Grills. The phone lacks a headphone jack.

The phone is 8.9mm thick and weighs 205 grams. It feels fairly heavy but beautiful.

The front side has a 6.44-inch display with two holes at the top left side of the display for dual selfie cameras setup. The AMOLED panel feels really good and 90Hz refresh rate makes the phone smoother. The display also has HDR10+ certification to give you good video experience on supported apps.

The phone also has an under-display fingerprint sensor. It also has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos audio.

The phone packs octa-core Snapdragon 865 Soc that is the best Qualcomm platform for smartphones. So, you will get high-end performance. Graphics has been handled by Adreno 650. If you care for benchmark scores, the phone can easily cross 3,50,000 on Antutu. This is a powerful phone, so obviously people will buy it for gaming. That’s why Realme has also taken care of cooling. The phone has Vapor Chamber and Multilayer Solid Graphite for cooling.

It comes in three variants that are 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, 8GB RAM with 128GB Storage and 12 GB RAM with 256GB storage. You cannot expand the storage, so get the variant depending on your choice. Here, it is worth to note that the phone has LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0.

It runs on Android 10 with Realme UI at the top. The phone comes with a few bloatware similar to previous Realme phones. The Ui doesn’t need much introduction because it is the same we saw in previous Realme phones.

There’s a quad-camera setup that includes 64-megapixel primary camera with the Samsung S5KGW1 sensor, 12 megapixels Telephoto camera, 8 megapixels ultra-wide-angle camera and 2 megapixels depth camera. The phone can record up to 4K video. It also has a dual selfie camera that includes 32 megapixels primary camera and 8 megapixels ultra-wide-angle camera. I tried both the cameras for a limited time and found interesting results. But I do not want to claim anything about the camera performance before testing them properly.

Realme X50 Pro 5G

The phone supports 5G connectivity. India has no 5G network and I cannot say when it will have. But your phone is future-ready. The phone also has Wi-Fi 6 but you can use this only if you have Wi-Fi 6 compatible router.

The phone packs 4200 mAh battery and supports 65W fast charging, which Realme calls SuperDart flash charge. Realme claims that the phone takes 35 minutes to charge from 0-100%. While I didn’t get a chance to test this claim, but earthily 65W fast charging shouldn’t take a long time.

Realme X50 Pro 5G is Realme’s most premium phone, but it still misses some of the premium features that are wireless charging and water resistance. At least there could be P2i nano-coating to give some relief.

The phone is being marketed as India’s first 5G phone, but that is of no use for us. So, leave that aside and now let’s talk about the phone. It has the most popular Snapdragon chip for high-end performance, AMOLED panel, large battery with 65W fast charging. The camera setups on both rear and back look impressive.

At a starting price of Rs. 37999, this phone looks really impressive.
