Google rolls out prepaid mobile recharge service for Android users

Google is the newest entry in the prepaid recharge service. Now you can recharge your mobile phones directly from Google search. For now, this is only available from Google Search on Android phones. Supported mobile phones are Airtel, Vodafone-Idea, Jio, and BSNL.

If you want to use this feature, you can search for “phone recharge”, “SIM recharge” or “Prepaid mobile recharge.” It will then show you a section for mobile recharge at the top of search results but after ads.

Then enter your phone number, select a mobile operator and proceed to recharge. You can also browse plans if you want to know about the available plans you can opt to recharge.

Choose the recharge plan of your choice and Google will redirect you to the payment screen. Google then shows the option to recharge from Mobikwik, Paytm, FreeCharge and Google Pay. If you have any of these apps installed on your phone, you can select that to pay.

Currently, Google is offering recharge from operators like Reliance Jio, Vodafone-Idea, Airtel, and BSNL are compatible with this feature.

After the payment is done, there is a “Back to Google” button that will take you back to Google search to continue.

This feature is available to all signed-in users on Android devices in India. If you use an iPhone, you need to wait but there is no timeline when the feature will be available for iOS.
