Dell Technologies has announced the launch of its new 2020 XPS 13 ahead of CES 2020. This laptop comes with a new modern design and powerful specs. There is also an XPS 13 Developer Edition that comes with Ubuntu 18.04LTS preloaded.

The laptop comes with a 4-sided InfinityEdge 13.4-inch display offering a 16:10 aspect ratio (up from 16:9 on the prior gen). There are three display options that are standard 1920 x 1200 FHD+ panel, an FHD+ display with a touchscreen, and a 4K 3840 x 2400 touchscreen with HDR 400. Dell claims a 91.5% screen-to-body ratio that is a 7.8% improvement over the predecessor.

The laptop packs 10th Gen Intel Coreā„¢ 10nm mobile processors in Core i3, i5, and i7 options. It packs up to 32GB RAM and up to 2TB of SSD storage. The company says that there were several direct requests from the community for more RAM and they delivered the same.

Standard variant runs on Windows 10 and the Developers Edition featuring Ubuntu 18.04LTS.

It comes with fingerprint-reader support. This feature won’t be available at the launch but support will soon follow via OTA updates.

Dell is still using the same old keyboard that reaches both edges. It has a 17 percent larger touchpad and 9 percent larger keycaps.

The laptop has a durable and lightweight design. It is made of CNC machined aluminum and aerospace-inspired carbon fiber. The display has Gorilla Glass 6.

It features Wi-Fi 6 and Killer AX165 that is nearly 3 times as fast as the previous generation. Dell claims up to 19 hours of battery life that is really impressive.

XPS 13 will start at $999 and will be available starting January 7th. The developer edition will be released on February 4th starting at $1,119.
