Delhi Metro launches free WiFi service in Trains on Airport Express Line
In a big move, Delhi Metro has announced free high-speed WiFi services in Metro trains running on Airport Express Line. Commuters will get 2 Mbps speed inside train coaches of this Metro line.
Delhi Metro has tied up with Maxima Digital for this service. Maxima Digital has laid down down 24 Km Fiber with 44 base stations to ensure proper coverage. All trains running on this line have radios to connect to the network and coaches have a wireless network access point to provide service to commuters.
Commuters will see a METROWIFI_FREE Wi-Fi network. This network will ask to log on using the phone number and OTP. After authentication, you will be able to access the internet.
India is now the first country in the South Asian region to offer Wi-Fi connectivity in underground trains.
It is worth to note that WiFi is already available on platforms of the Blue Line and the Airport Express Line. Now when the service is available in running train, Delhi Metro has ensured that it will be expanded to other Metro lines in the coming months.
